Big Stone AQCS Project Brings Workers to the Region

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

During the next two or three years, starting in 2013, hundreds of workers and technicians will call the Big Stone region their home away from home as they install an air-quality control system (AQCS) at Big Stone Plant.

The AQCS project team launched a web site January 21 in an effort to help the nearly 500 workers coming to the plant during the next three years find housing, laundry, food, service stations, and other amenities. “It’s optimized for use on mobile devices so it should be convenient,” said Cris Oehler, Otter Tail Power Company’s public relations director. “But it’ll only be helpful if area residents and businesses keep the information on it current.” Oehler invited anyone with a room to rent or laundry services to offer, for example, to fill out a form at “We’ll try to post your offering within two business days."
