Grant County Development Corporation has been awarded funding thru the South Dakota Housing Needs Study Program, Executive Director Bohlen stated that the funds are matching funds awarded to  conduct a Housing Needs Study.  The Scope of the study will look at the demographic and economic characteristics of households in the community? What the current income level of households in the community and what  the anticipated income level in the future?  Additional areas will include  expectations with respect to economic, employment, and population change in the community in the next 2 to 5 years, the next 10 years, and the next 15 years.  Based on market information, what is the nature and extent of the community’s short-to-mid-term housing demand and long-term housing demand? What is the demand in various categories, including: new construction, rehab, senior housing, family housing, rental, and homeownership? What is the price range for demand in various categories?   Once the study is conducted the information will be made public.  This type of information can be used by the City for infrastructure planning, it will aid financial institutions when private contractors look to build and it will give us a good idea of where the community needs to look at expansion.    Results from the study will not be available till late fall or early 2015.
