Whimsy on Main
Friday, November 27, 2015
There will be one less empty building on Main Street beginning this weekend when Whimsy on Main Popup Shop opens its door on the corner of Main Street and 2nd Avenue. Amy Thue and Sara Snaza are busy preparing the space for a product reveal on December 5th.
Whimsy will feature regional artisan’s handmade wares and boutique gift products. There will also be several offerings of Parties in a Box that can be customized for many different themes and occasions. The sisters will feature sweet treats from the Conrad Cookie Company and coffee from the Mighty Missouri Coffee Company. Both products will be available to sample and purchase.
Whimsy will be open Saturdays and Sundays throughout December and January with the possibility of continuing.
“We are very excited to offer another local store for holiday shopping. We look forward to visiting with the community to find out what they would like to see for products and provide a fun atmosphere that focuses on heartfelt, thoughtful giving,” said Thue.
The store will host an Open House this Saturday, November 28 from 9-5 and Sunday, November 29 from 12-4 for a Whimsy on Main - Be Crafty: Christmas Edition.
“We are taking advantage of the store being empty to host a craft make and take to get the community geared up for holiday gift giving,” Thue explained. “Stations will be set up with different projects for children and adults with fees to cover the cost of supplies.”
Details and cost of the projects can be seen on the Whimsy on Main Facebook site on Friday, November 27. Shoppers can stop anytime to complete a project.
“Join us this weekend for a fun opportunity to do some Christmas crafting and next weekend to do some holiday shopping,” said Snaza.
Whimsy on Main was given a grant by the Grant County Development Corporation in collaboration with OTA to open the popup store.
This is a statement from Hugh at OTA:
After the recent OTA: Milbank event, Amy Thue was selected to represent the community as an OTA Builder. This group of twenty from the OTA states of South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota represents the best of the region's creatives who are actively building their communities. Each Builder will be featured by OTA in the coming months and will speak at OTA: Bismarck on March 14. The Whimsy on Main pop-up will be the focus of Thue's Bismarck presentation. OTA was founded and is led by Milbank native, Hugh Weber.
