In August of 2016, Grant County Development Corporation(GCDC) purchased this house from the South Dakota Housing Authority. This is the first renovation project of its kind in the State. “Our main goal was to advance workforce housing in Milbank. An added benefit was to maintain home values in the neighborhood and our community by preventing the further deterioration of an unoccupied home” said Bobbie Bohlen, Executive Director of GCDC.
Local contractors have worked diligently to take a home in need of much work and prepare it for new homeowners. Along with these local contractors, GCDC converted this 2.5 Bedroom/1 Bath home into a 3 Bedroom/2 Bath home with an added main floor laundry. Additionally, the kitchen has been completely renovated featuring new cabinets, fixtures and countertops. Other improvements include: updated electric, new floor coverings, light fixtures and bathroom fixtures throughout this freshly painted home. Other features include a detached double garage, large deck and alley access to the home.
“With the large backyard, deck on the back, and three bedrooms and two baths, it will be great for a family” Bohlen said.
GCDC would like to thank all of the contractors who worked above and beyond to make this possible:
