Viessman Trucking Expands Operations with New Location in Milbank, SD
Viessman Trucking, a family-owned company headquartered in Gary, South Dakota, has officially begun construction on a new facility at 901 S Madison Street, Milbank, SD 57252. The expansion marks a significant investment in the Milbank area and a continued commitment to serving South Dakota and the surrounding region.
The 4,860-square-foot facility will support the company’s growing operations and create a new full-time truck driver position based locally. The new role will offer a $70,000 annual salary with full benefits, reinforcing Viessman’s commitment to providing high-quality employment opportunities in rural communities.
Viessman Trucking has been a trusted name in the transportation industry for over 60 years, delivering critical food-grade products like milk, sugar, cornstarch, and vegetable oil throughout the region. The company currently employs approximately 450 people across 14 locations, including its corporate headquarters in Gary, South Dakota. They offer competitive benefits such as health, dental, and life insurance, and provide sign-on bonuses for all driver positions, with amounts varying by role and location. With the addition of the Milbank shop, Viessman sees strong potential to grow its driver base and support staff, noting that Milbank’s location makes it an ideal fit for continued expansion.
The site for the new facility was purchased from the Grant County Development Corporation (GCDC), with full support from its board of directors. “This project reflects the heart of our mission,” said Traci Stein, Executive Director of GCDC. “Our board is committed to helping businesses grow, expanding the local tax base, and creating meaningful jobs. Strategic land development like this delivers lasting value to the community.”
She added, “We’re building strong momentum by working together to support not only business development, but also workforce, housing, and access to childcare. These efforts are all connected—and they position us for even greater opportunities ahead. Viessman Trucking’s investment is a great example of how public-private partnerships can move our region forward.”
In addition, the new Milbank location highlights Viessman’s investment in its workforce. Full-time company drivers receive competitive benefits, including a $5,000 sign-on bonus, monthly and year-end performance bonuses, paid training, weekly pay, and incentives like referral rewards and clean DOT inspection bonuses.
